Why dollar-off beats percentage at scale

On a small order, a percentage code looks generous. On a $250 catering order, a flat ‘$50 off over $250’ often wins outright — and it’s the safer choice because it won’t nudge you under a free-delivery threshold the way a deep percentage can. The bigger the order, the more the flat dollar-off pulls ahead.

Hit the minimum cleanly

Most catering and group codes require a minimum spend. The trick is to reach it with food people will actually eat rather than padding the order to qualify. Build the spread first, and if you’re just under the line, add a shareable side or an extra protein — something that gets used — rather than a random item that goes to waste.
